User Testing

User Testing

User testing is ideal once you've isolated a few key issues and you want to understand the problem in more detail in order to implement the right solutions.

What is user testing?

User testing is a methodology employed to detect, isolate and overcome recurring and common usability issues. It is best suited to websites that have already narrowed down areas of concern. If there are too many issues for user testing a website review would be best in the first instance; it will be more cost effective and efficient. If you're not sure whether you need a website review, user testing or both don't worry we'll know immediately.

How does user testing work?

There are a number of approaches to user testing. Our approach involves remote user testing in order to observe users in a more natural state. Unlike lab testing which tends to evoke user tension; as the environment is more sterile and unnatural.

User testing in action

We select a handful of users based on your user profiles. We set them key tasks as agreed with you. We watch them remotely via video, carry out the tasks and ask them to 'think out loud' as they do this.
It's imperative that we don't prompt, guide or influence them for clean results.

Usability analysis

We assess and analyse the results. We structure them into a usable format with recommendations for change, reasons why, with clear examples of best practice - creating crystal clear guidance for swift remedial action.

Questions answered!

There will be much butting of the forehead as the once elusive becomes plainly obvious. As ever the answers lie with the users.
